Paul Kern first received national recognition in 2004 for his western poetry as the 12th Lariat Laureate of  His CD “Rimrock – Where Memories Rhyme” received the Will Rogers Award by the Academy of Western Artists.  “Rimrock” and his other CDs “Morning after Rain” and “Saddle Songs of Idaho” receive frequent radio and media play.  Paul was nominated “Male Cowboy Poet of the Year” by the Academy of Western Artists. 

Mike Bown is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist with deep western roots.  He has played with the Young Ambassadors and Synthesis of BYU and performed professionally with the Mexican State Opera Orchestra, numerous European orchestras, opera houses and prominent choral groups.  Mike has performed for King Hussein of Jordan and toured Australia as a concert musician.

Paul and Mike (Homeward Bound) first met while living in Germany back in the mid-1990s.  Since coming “home” to the American West they have reunited and now perform as “Homeward Bound” with a blend of award-winning western poetry combined with twin guitars, twelve string guitar and mandolin.   Western Artist Rick Kennington captured Paul and Mike in oil and canvas.
